Tiger's news conference...
« on: April 06, 2010, 09:47:43 am »

So who here really thinks we'll see a "subdued" Tiger?

Do we WANT to see him hit a 40-footer to win a major and go "Oh...that's cool."

I hope he plays well.

They had one of his mistresses on TV today. Apparently she was at Augusta. She called Tiger a "big, fat, liar" and that he owed all the women he had sex with an apology. I nearly pooped my pants I was laughing so hard.

SHE'S A FRIGGIN PORN STAR!!!!

She wants an apology because she chose to screw someone? And the mainstream media chose to air it, how screwed up is THAT? The media are complete assholes.

If you choose to delete my post because I used the word assholes then you're assholes.

Jim, you know better than that.  The media airs what will help them sell ad copy or on air ads be it on tv or radio.  If you want anything else, you need to find some other outlet for information.  They aired what sells.

I'll assume that she fell for the glitz and money that I am assuming he promised all but the drain pipes and gasoline filler openings that he must ahve also screwed - afterall it appears he screwed everything but livestock, that's reserved for Jimmy Swaggert (according to his cousin who I know).

As to subdued Tiger, I am also assuming he's referring to a Tiger Woods who won't cuss a blue streak and throw clubs.

He did say he can't have one without the other.....and yes he said it would be "subdued" a bit.  I think the difference will be where he is at on the leaderboard.  He is a competitor and I think that when the victory is in reach, his emotions will be the same as before.  Personally, I would hate to see Tiger not be Tiger (on the course).  You can have "tasteful" tantrums....for lack of a better word.  Getting pissed off on bad shots is normal....maybe just refrain from dropping f bombs.

my 3 cents.

Yep, I think he will be what "Team Tiger" has advised him to do for his "new image"....he might even shake hands, kiss a baby or two, or POSSIBLY sign an autograph.  There will be NO cussing, spitting, temper tantrums, or pouting. Additionally, Stevie might even manage a smile or two.

So who wants to talk about that ad? Seems to be polarizing people on the sites.

The ad is what it is.   People who are detractors from day 1 are going to hate it and continue to spew their venom, and those that are in his corner are going to love it.

That is the great thing about NIKE.  At least it is not afraid to do (it).

I'm glad that it happened.  I'm glad he/they did this.  Maybe this will serve as a calling to Tiger to stay on this path to recovery, his father has alway been his beacon.

As for those that will want to bring up reports of his father and certain reports, i just say truly tasteless...

The ad was critically acclaimed on the Today Show, where the theme has been generally pro-Tiger throughout this ordeal.  I'm torn.  It's a bit strange to have TW's dad talk to him like that, and it's also a bit disheartening to see Tiger and Nike "stage" emotion in an advertisement that sells nothing but image.

why is it strange to see his dad talk to him?  this is the other argument i find intriguing from detractors.

No one thought it was strange with his "never" campaign?

Nike/tiger has done this before, but it just seems that post 'incident', everything Tiger does just doesn't sit right?

ANd the next person to say that they are ashamed that Tiger is exploiting his dad.... ughhhh......

I think I agree most with Classic's response.

I have no problem with the use of his father, rather the timing - but of course when else would an ad like that be used?

It's strange to me in the sense that it's Tiger standing solemnly and silently while receiving a reprimand from his deceased father. And post reprimand, the Nike logo flashes?  It's like Nike told him to stand in the "sad corner" and wait for his father to come and give him a tongue lashing.  It's just bizarre.  I'm as big of a fan of Tiger and Nike as there is, but this ad just seems strange.

With that said, I'm losing my mind in my home office while watching him play today.  Golf is back.  kinda...
